Volunteer Home / Volunteer

Running Newhouse would be impossible without the generous support of individual volunteers and volunteer groups who visit the shelter each month. They help maintain the residential facility, serve meals, and provide activities for the women and children.

THANK YOU to these recent volunteers and groups:

Fred Albertson, owner of Tip Toe Carpet Cleaning LLC, spent several evenings at the shelter cleaning carpets! Office spaces, childcare area and therapists offices were cleaned and refreshed. His efforts were appreciated by all the staff that now have clean area to work in.

Employees from MMC Corp. volunteered their time to clean and organize spaces used by residents. Probably the most rewarding and challenging task was sizing and labeling Halloween costumes!

Cornerstone Presbyterian Church sent a team of volunteers to organize the children's craft area, clean carpet in the school, and build shelving for storage areas. There were many small projects with huge impact to the daily operations at Newhouse.

To learn how you or your company, group can impact the lives of women and children at the shelter, email our Community Engagement Coordinator or call 816-474-6446 x225. View our current list of volunteer opportunitiesPlease allow for at least one month's notice when scheduling group volunteer activities
