Newhouse would not be able to operate as efficiently and effectively without the generous support of individual volunteers and volunteer groups who visit the shelter each month. Highly skilled or not so skilled volunteers are welcome. Click here to view our Volunteer Packet.
The individual volunteer age requirement is 18. Those under 18 must be accompanied with a parent or teacher.
Specific skill requirements:
Newhouse is looking for skilled individuals and groups to help make cosmetic improvements
with painting, patching, tile work, touching up landscape, and light carpentry work. If your skill is creative painting, we have multiple areas where we would like to add murals or artistically designed words of inspiration.
Corporate Service Days & Groups:
We would love to work with you! Projects may include, organizing donations, painting, cleaning, beautifying the grounds, facilities maintenance, hosting a fun activity with families, or raising awareness by collecting donations for our shelter.
Spend time with Newhouse regularly. Volunteers may assist with various tasks including:
Making thank you calls, answering the hotline, creating welcome kits for clients, organizing, landscaping, or by bringing your personal skill set to uplift the agency. This does require a completed volunteer application, back ground check, and orientation.
Be part of an event committee: secure auction items, support marketing, social media or public relations efforts; help directly with event planning or set up, perform speaking engagements, volunteer at events and so much more! Attend community fairs as a brand ambassador.
For more information on volunteering contact Cicelynn at 816-462-0503 or email [email protected] You can also sign up to receive e-mail requests for volunteers. Please allow for at least one month’s notice when scheduling group volunteer activities.
